In the event of loss of operating air pressure on a spring to close valve, the valve an be manually opened by turning the handwheel in a clockwise direction.

Upon resumption of operating air service, the handwheel is turned in a counterclockwise direction until it turns free from the top of the spring case. The valve will then be ready to resume automatic operation.
